Police warn parents about kids' texting after man's arrest

Prescott Valley police arrested a man Sunday on charges including aggravated luring of a minor after he sent sexual text messages to a 13-year-old girl's cell phone.

The girl's mother called police after speaking with her daughter when family members found a picture of a naked man on her daughter's phone, said Sgt. Brandon Bonney, spokesman for the Prescott Valley Police Department.

"Keep communication open with your kids. Take the time to look at their phones and see what text messages they're sending, what they're receiving and who they're talking to," Bonney said.

Officers learned that the suspected victim allegedly received graphic text messages from a man in a nearby apartment in the 3800 block of Windsong identified as Matthew James Noble, 27, of Prescott Valley.

When officers spoke with Noble, he told them he sent graphic, sexual text messages to a neighbor and that he received sexual text messages back.

Noble told police he didn't know the girl's name or how old she was, but thought she was definitely under 18 years old.

Noble said he overheard her exchanging her phone number with someone else, Bonney said.

Noble said they texted casually for several weeks, before the text messages became sexual, Bonney said.

Noble told officers the girl allegedly sent him nude photos as well, but officers haven't found that in their investigation, Bonney said.

Officers booked Noble into the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde on charges of two counts of aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and indecent exposure.

He remains in jail on a $15,000 bond, Bonney said.
