Tri-City DUI task force makes 15 holiday weekend arrests
Over the Independence Day weekend, the Tri-City DUI task force made 206 traffic stops and 15 DUI arrests.
Officers from the Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Cottonwood police departments, and AZ DPS conducted DUI saturation patrols throughout Yavapai County, said Sgt. Tim Fletcher, traffic section supervisor for the Prescott Police Department.
Of those 15 DUI arrests, 13 were for misdemeanor DUI, seven were for extreme DUI, two were for aggravated DUI and three were for under age 21 DUI, Fletcher said.
Those stopped for DUI had an average 0.159 breath alcohol content and officers performed five drug influence evaluations, Fletcher said.
Officers on the task force also wrote 235 other citations, found five people who identified themselves as designated drivers and wrote one seatbelt citation, Fletcher said.
The Prescott Police Department would like to remind drivers not to drink and drive, Fletcher said.
Police would also like to remind drivers that officers will continue to be out in force throughout the year to enforce impaired driving laws, Fletcher said.
