Becker completes Scout Gold Award
Ashley Becker, a senior at Bradshaw Mountain High School and an Ambassador Girl Scout in Prescott Valley Troop 1126, recently completed the requirements for her Gold Award.
For her project, Ashley worked with Hannah's Home, a home for pregnant teenagers, to find a way to help beautify the home. Hannah's Home now has a sanctuary garden where girls can go to be alone, or talk things out with someone who cares.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout may earn. The leadership and organizational skills, and sense of community and commitment that come from "going for the Gold," set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship. It has been described as being "what you really want to be remembered for" in Girl Scouting.
Ashley has been a Girl Scout for nine years. She will receive her award at a ceremony in March.
Ashley plans to attend Northern Arizona University after graduation.
