Obituary: Jean A. Halstead

Jean A. Halstead, 91, passed away at Margaret T. Morris Center Hospice in Prescott, Ariz., on Jan. 19, 2010.

She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Frank G. Pellett and Mary Holland Pellett. She lived in Yuma, Tucson and Los Angeles as a young child.

After her marriage to Thomas A.D. Halstead, she lived in Burbank, Calif. Her husband preceded her in death in 1946 and she moved to San Mateo, Calif., where she was employed for 32 years by the City of San Mateo Public Library Department, retiring as Executive Secretary in 1982, when she moved to Prescott. She served as a member of the Board of the Friends of the Prescott Library as well as volunteering for the Sheriff's Department and the library.

Mrs. Halstead is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Suzanne Halstead; her daughter Sally Halstead-Harsch; grandchildren David Halstead, Lisa Dunsmore, Deborah Bernstein, Kristin Ott and Hilary Scott; great-grandchildren Jessica, Christopher, Callie, Brooke, Aaron, Aiden and Hunter; as well as nephew Howard Pellett and niece Susan Burkhardt.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the wonderful and loving staff of the Margaret T. Morris Center of Prescott, who treated her with such respect and love in her final 18 months.

At her direction, there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to the Margaret T. Morris Center, 878 Sunset Ave., Prescott, AZ 86305-1824.
