Prescott police nab fugitive wanted in N.C.
Prescott police arrested a fugitive wanted in North Carolina on child sex charges, a spokesman said.
A special agent with the North Carolina state police contacted Prescott police's special enforcement squad this past Friday after learning that Richard Daniel Centeno, 32, was in Prescott, said Lt. Andy Reinhardt, spokesman for the Prescott Police Department.
As officers conducted surveillance of a home in the 700 block of Lincoln, they saw Centeno drive up to the house and took him into custody without incident late Friday afternoon, Reinhardt said.
Officers booked Centeno into Camp Verde jail on charges of first degree statutory rape of a child, incest with a child, two counts of first degree sex offense with a child, and three counts of indecent liberties with a child.
All of the charges occurred in Mooresville, N.C., Reinhardt said
As the investigation continued, North Carolina state police determined that evidence of the crime might be at the Lincoln residence, so Mooresville police and Prescott detectives obtained a search warrant for the home, Reinhardt said.
Detectives and the SWAT team serving the search warrant early Thursday morning seized computers, video equipment, storage devices and DVDs.
"The victim indicated that she saw sexual images of her on his computer," Reinhardt said.
At this time, there is only one victim, Reinhardt said.
Centeno remains in custody without bond pending an extradition hearing scheduled for March 2, Reinhardt said.
