The first thing vistors to the Cordes Lakes Sweetheart Dinner saw was the parking lot sign: Sweethearts Only!

Attendees to the Saturday party at the Cordes Lakes Community Center were then dazzled at the door by Valentine colors.

Jake Barnes met sweethearts at the door, passing out chocolate rosebuds to the ladies. As guests took their seats, they found a heart-shaped cookie with a sweet message on it. Conversation heart candies adorned the tables and tableware was wrapped with red ribbons.

Cooks Alice Spry, Ruth Johnson, Anice Grant and MaryLou Bottomfield dressed salad with light dressing, catering to everyone's taste. They cooked up a moist and savory meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, and baby carrots.

While diners enjoyed the meal, the Sidekicks band played in the background. Dessert was a square of pink cake with pink frosting, topped with a chocolate-dipped strawberry.

Several guests won door prizes as well as the basket raffle prizes to benefit Jim Hawthorn. Jim's daughter was present to draw and call the winning tickets. Jean Chester won a door prize as well as the DVD/Snack basket, and Jack Williamson won the Indian pots.
