Lillian Clara O'Brien Brewer, age 96, passed away on Feb. 8, 2010, at her home in Prescott, Ariz. She was born on Dec. 2, 1913, in Howell, Mich., to James and Ursula O'Brien.
Lillian grew up in Howell, Mich., and graduated from high school in 1932. During World War II, she was a secretary for Howell Motors, whose business it was to construct motors for ships. She also worked for Citizens Mutual Insurance. Lillian was also a freelance graphic artist. She migrated to Arizona in 1945 and married Jesse Charles Brewer on Jan. 23, 1947, in St. Cecilia's Church in Clarkdale, Ariz. She volunteered at Meadow Park and enjoyed dancing. She also handcrafted greeting cards, wood fiber flowers and, most of all, she had a great sense of humor. She was very dedicated to Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the Legion of Mary and Altar Society.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, in 1985. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Moonis of Dewey, Ariz., and Dianne (Jim) Storm of Prescott, Ariz.; her sons, William (Bonnie) Brewer of Dewey, Richard (Joy) Brewer of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Patrick Brewer of Prescott; and eight grandchildren.
Family will receive friends and family from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at the Victorian Chapel, Hampton Funeral Home. A vigil service will follow at 5 p.m. Committal services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Howell, Mich. Donations in Lillian's name may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
