Juanita E. (Nita) Alexander

Juanita E. (Nita) Alexander, 88, a longtime resident of Prescott, Ariz., passed away Jan. 31, 2010, in Phoenix.

Nita was born in Ulum, Minn. She was a graduate of the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester. She was proud that her Minnesota Registered Nurse license and diploma were signed by Dr. Mayo. Her nursing credentials lead her to employment in Minnesota, California, Maine and Arizona.

In 1939, while in college in Minnesota, she met Albert (Sam), her husband of 64 years. In 1948, Nita and Sam moved to Morenci where they raised their three sons. In 1979, Nita and Sam retired to Prescott, where she was active in St. Luke's Episcopal Church Altar Guild and ECW.

Nita will be fondly remembered for her love of gardening, baking and crafts.

Nita is survived by sons Todd and wife Nancy of Scottsdale and Peter and wife Celeste of Oregon; as well as grandchildren Adrienne (husband Garr) and Craig. She is preceded in death by her husband Albert and son James.
