Letter: Thank you for free dinner

EDITOR:

After attending the Courthouse Lighting parade on Dec. 4, my wife and I, with our 3-month-old daughter, went to The Office restaurant for dinner. When we finished our meal and asked for our tab, the waitress told us it had been taken care of. We were shocked! So much so that we left in confusion, forgetting to ask who had taken care of it or why.

We called the restaurant as soon as we got home to ask and were told that the people at the table next to us had paid the tab as a Christmas gift. Thankfully, those people were still there and the employee said she would pass on our shocked but grateful "thank you" to them.

On an extremely tight budget, this was very much appreciated. Kind souls such as these bring the meaning of this season back to the hearts of others. We just wanted to let others know about this unexpected generosity and to let them know that the Christmas spirit still exists in our town.

Thank you again to the giving people at The Office, God bless you.
