Elementary, middle schools celebrate Red Ribbon Week
Coyote Springs Elementary School and Glassford Hill Middle School recently celebrated Red Ribbon Week with the help from MATForce and the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Red Ribbon Week activities serve as a reminder for students to make healthy choices for themselves, which includes living drug-free. Both schools planned numerous events.
MATForce and Northstar Youth Partnership provided a banner along with give-away items such as bookmarks, stickers, pencils and ribbons. Each item features an age appropriate anti-drug message.
CSES students thoroughly enjoyed the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office "Deputy Do-Right" show. The all school assembly featured the theme of "You Win or Lose by the Way You Choose."
GHMS involved students in daily projects, which included wearing their red ribbon each day, a door decoration contest and pajama day with the theme to "turn out the lights on drugs."
As part of Red Ribbon Week, the schools and MATForce invited all parents to become a MVP.
MVP, which stands for MATForce Valuable Parent, is a way that parents can stay alert to drug trends in youth through a brief monthly email received from matforce.org.
