Bunker files to seek re-election

CHINO VALLEY - Mayor Jim Bunker filed Monday to seek re-election, Town Clerk Jami Lewis reported via e-mail.

Bunker submitted petitions bearing 74 signatures. He faces a challenge from Chris Marley, who filed his petitions Thursday.

The only other candidate who filed so far is Darryl Croft, who is running for one of the three council seats up for grabs in the March 8 primary.

Mayoral candidates run for two-year seats, and council candidates seek four-year terms. Aspiring candidates must collect a minimum of 46 valid signatures from registered voters who live in Chino Valley to qualify for the ballot.

Council incumbents Joel Baker, Gloria Moore and Ron Romley have not picked up candidate packets at Town Hall. The deadline for filing is 5 p.m. Wednesday.
