Two traffic accidents involving vehicles following too closely and speeding occurred Friday afternoon on Highway 69, and one sent three people to hospitals, according to the Central Yavapai Fire District.
The first accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. at Highway 69 and Sundog Ranch Road in Prescott Valley after vehicles were rear-ended, Central Yavapai Battalion Chief Mark Leyboldt said.
Paramedics flew one of the motorists to a hospital in Phoenix because that person reported a neck injury, Leyboldt said. An ambulance took two others to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East in Prescott Valley.
The accident involved three vehicles, as did a similar one about 10 minutes later at Highway 69 and Turquoise Drive in Diamond Valley, he said.
The accidents backed up eastbound traffic on Highway 69 for about a mile and a half, he said.
