Juried art guild show offers cash awards

Prescott Valley Art Guild offers an indoor juried art show in October for Quad-communities artists.

The one-day show takes place Saturday, Oct. 9, in conjunction with the Fall for the Arts, a community festival inside Tim's Toyota Event Center. The event, formerly called World Arts Festival, presents a variety of cultural arts and artists from throughout Arizona.

The PV Art Guild invites all artists aged 18 and older to enter 2D and 3D artwork for display and sale on the second floor of the event center. The show is free for all to view. All artwork must be priced for sale. The Guild does not charge commission; the price should include sales tax.

The Guild accepts works in all mediums: photography, painting, wood, fiber arts, glass, basketry, jewelry, collage, and metalwork. Maximum size of 2D art unframed is 20"x30" with no minimum size. The 3-D artwork has a maximum weight of 35 pounds.

The Guild will award cash prizes in eight categories in addition to the coveted Best of Show.

"We encourage you to seize this opportunity at being included in an exceptionally eclectic juried show within a quality setting," said Sid Freeman, PV Guild member.

Applications are due by Wednesday, Sept. 15. Please note the entry fee of $10 per piece. Work must be original and completed since Sept. 1, 2008. All entries will be juried and must be for sale.

Entry forms can be downloaded through the Town of Prescott Valley website, at www.pvaz.net/Index.aspx?page=430, or by contacting Sid Freeman at 772-1767.
