The Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild, formed in May 2002, has a membership of 60 to exchange ideas, learn new techniques and form new friendships. The 6:30 p.m., first Monday of the month meetings take place at the Mountain Valley Church of God, 8123 E. Manley Drive in Prescott Valley, with refreshments, and are open to the public. Yearly membership dues are $25 per year.

A speaker at the meeting will present a lecture and a trunk show of quilts she has made. All meetings with speakers are free to the public and a minimal donation of $20-$25 for the workshop.

The club's community project donations for 2010 are 136 quilts, throws and baby quilts, 249 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Yavapai Food Bank, plus a monetary donation of $350.

LVQG has also made mittens and cap sets; onesies and sleep sacks for babies; touchy-feely blocks for Alzheimer patients; throws; afghans; and scarves.

LVQG has an annual Fashion Show at the November meeting, where Guild members model clothing items they have made. The annual Holiday Boutique will be Nov. 12-13 at the Mountain Valley Church of God and a Tea and Quilt Show, every other year, with the next one to be May 7, again at the church. These are fundraisers to support community project efforts to the area charity groups.

For more information on LVQG, call the new incoming President, Donna Keller, at 774-6794 or Chris Turner at 775-6448.
