Choo-choo-choose to attend model train event Saturday
Model train layouts covering an entire room by Paulden resident Peter Atonna and Chino Valley resident Marlin Benson will be part of the area's Model Railroad Day on Saturday, Aug. 14. The public is invited to join fellow railroad and model railroad enthusiasts 9 a.m.-1p.m. at the Prescott Activity Center, 800 E. Gurley St., to view displays and swap items. The cost is $4 per adult. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. The fee includes maps to eight club members' homes, where people may enjoy a variety of model train layouts, both indoors and outdoors, during the afternoon. The layouts range from small HO scale trains to the classic Lionel O gauge trains to outdoor Garden Railroads.
Annually the members of the Central Arizona Model Railroad Club organize a day for all with an interest in trains. The CAMRC was organized 20 years ago for train enthusiasts from throughout the Prescott area to share their love of the hobby. More than 70 members meet monthly and enjoy presentations, social events, train related activities and trips. Persons interested in the club can get information from members at the event.
