Motorcyclist in Prescott Valley collision dies from injuries
The motorcyclist injured in the collision Monday morning along Highway 69 in Prescott Valley died as a result of his injuries at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Phoenix hospital, said Sgt. Brandon Bonney, spokesman for the Prescott Valley Police Department.
Eric Sanchez, 55, of Prescott Valley suffered severe head injuries after his motorcycle collided with the right rear fender of an SUV slowing for a yellow light at the StoneRidge intersection.
"The driver of the Jeep was slowing down for a yellow light (on Highway 69 west) when the motorcycle went to pass it on the right side and clipped the rear fender," said Corporal Mike Morris of the Prescott Valley Police Department.
Sanchez was not wearing a helmet, Bonney said. "It's critical to be wearing those helmets," Bonney said.
The driver of the Jeep did not suffer any injuries.
The investigation into the collision continues, Bonney said.
"Officers haven't made a determination yet in the case. They'll investigate it like any other fatal collision," he said, "but I don't see any indication of negligence or fault on the part of the other driver."
