Obtituary: Margaret Hazel (Rogers) McGee

Margaret Hazel (Rogers) McGee passed into the presence of her Lord on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at Hospice Marley House in Prescott, Ariz.

Margaret was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Ochiltree County, Texas, to Estell and Jennie (Smith) Rogers. She lived there through high school and then moved to Amarillo, Texas, to attend business school. After completing business school, she worked at Amarillo Gas Company where she met Eakle Lyndon McGee. They were married Sept. 1. 1935.

All four of their daughters were born in Texas. The family moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1947. In 1973, Mr. McGee, a plumbing contractor, retired, and the couple moved to Payson, Ariz. They moved to Prescott in 1989.

Mrs. McGee was a faithful member of churches in Phoenix, Payson, Prescott and Prescott Valley, Ariz. She worked as a schoolteacher in Payson and spent many years in children's ministries.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Eakle Lyndon McGee; son-in-law William Crouch; granddaughter Carolynn Reece; and great grandson Robert Johnson.

She is survived by sisters Katherine Smith of Hereford, Texas, and Janet Nixon of Erie, Pa.; daughters and sons-in-law Beverly Crouch of Citrus Heights, Calif., Lynn Loucks of Phoenix, June and Fred Furubotten of Prescott Valley, and Jeanine and Norman Reece of Vallejo, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1051 Willow Creek Road, Prescott. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Open Door Baptist Church, 8451 E. Stevens Drive, Prescott Valley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix Christian Unified Schools, 1751 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85015, for the Margaret McGee Memorial.
