Man rescued from flooded wash
Chino Valley firefighters rescued a man this afternoon whose work truck became stranded in standing water in a wash along Sweet Valley Road in Paulden.
"An employee of Qwest did not make it across the road, it was that deep," said Chino Valley Fire Chief John Ginn. "He was on the hood of his truck. We sent our swift water team out in a boat to rescue him."
Two fire engines and 10 people were involved in the rescue, which took about 20 minutes, Ginn said.
This is the third time in the past two years that fire crews have rescued people stranded in that area, Ginn said. The area is an unmaintained road with no barricades.
Ginn said it looks like a large, flat area, which is deceptive because there's a deep hole that you can't see just ahead.
