Obituary: Diane Barbara (Gilliland) Chierighino

Diane Barbara (Gilliland) Chierighino transitioned from this world on April 2, 2010, after a four-year-long struggle with emphysema.

She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in California, graduated from Beverly Hills High School and attended Pomona College. For several years, she was a model/actress in Hollywood. After marriage and divorce, she moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1963 with her two children. After she married Mike Chierighino, she pursued a career in journalism as a staff writer and contributing editor for the Scottsdale Progress newspaper and published many articles in national magazines.

Diane was a 4o-year member of Mensa and served as a local chapter president in Phoenix from 1972 to 1974.

In 1996, she and Mike moved to Prescott. Here she began a new vocation as a watercolor artist. Many of her paintings have been sold locally and to out-of-state art buyers.

Diane is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Mike; son Steven Bolander of Prescott Valley; daughter Kim Reynolds of Phoenix; daughter Chris Kasper of Sweeny, Texas; Conald Chierighino of Richmond, Texas; and adopted daughter Zoe Forrester of Phoenix. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Diane will be long remembered for her wit, grace, talent and concern for others. Particular gratitude is extended to the Hospice of the Pines of Dewey for their kind and wonderful care and especially to Linda, Kathy, Jan and JJ and all the others.

Cremation and interment will be private. A Celebration of Life will be May 2, 2010, at her home in Prescott, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Hospice of the Pines of Dewey or Yavapai Humane Society in her name will be deeply appreciated.
