Teens arrested on charges of stealing SUV, fleeing officers
15-year-old suspect allegedly broke into home, put on women's clothes in attempt to escape

Chino Valley police arrested two Prescott teenage boys Tuesday after they allegedly stole a Jeep Cherokee and fled from officers, a spokesman said.

At 12:56 p.m., Prescott police asked Chino Valley police to help them locate the stolen SUV, said Commander Mark Garcia of the Chino Valley Police Department.

At 1:18 p.m., Chino officers tried to stop the SUV in the 1400 block of North Highway 89, but the driver drove to Palo Verde where both the driver and the passenger fled on foot, Garcia said.

Officers found the 14-year-old passenger hiding in a shed and took him into custody.

The 15-year-old driver entered a home on Harding Road through an unlocked rear patio door, changed into women's clothing, and ran off, Garcia said.

Officers found the driver near Road 1 North and Cactus and took him into custody as well.

Officers took both teenagers to the Prescott Police Department for further interviews and officers later took them to the Juvenile Detention Center, Garcia said.
