Mayer Fire responded on a two motorcycle accident Friday evening that sent two people to a Phoenix hospital with serious injuries.

The accident happened on I-17 northbound three miles south of Cordes Junction, said Mayer Fire Chief Glenn Brown. Crews found a 50-year-old male with a leg fracture and head injuries and a 40-year-old female with head injuries.

Mayer Fire ambulances took the victims to Henry Cordes Park in Cordes Lakes, where Native Air helicopter crews flew them to JCL North Mountain trauma center in Phoenix.

While Mayer crews were on the accident scene, off-duty personnel came in and responded Engine 23 to a medical call in Cordes Lakes with LifeLine ambulance, and a Central Yavapai Fire engine moved in to cover the Mayer Fire District.
