14 people apply for job as Coyote Springs principal
The Humboldt Unified School District received 14 applications for the job of Coyote Springs Elementary School principal.
Current principal Dr. Susan Fahrni is retiring as of June 30.
HUSD Superintendent Dr. Henry Schmitt said the district received seven in-district applications and seven out-of-district applications.
"We have a really strong candidate pool. However, we have decided to wait until after the May 18 sales tax election before we make any decisions," Schmitt said.
In the meantime, district officials plan to create a principal search committee chaired by Human Resources Director Phil Young. The committee will include a cross-section of people, including administrators, teachers, site council members, Parent Teacher Organization representatives and parents.
The district is in the middle of a superintendent search to replace Schmitt, who is retiring as of June 30. "We plan to hire a new principal before the new superintendent comes on board," Schmitt said.
