Library closes to prep for move to new building
The Prescott Valley Public Library is closed temporarily from Sept. 14 until the grand opening of the new library Saturday, Oct. 10.
The library book drop at the Civic Center will remain available for all patrons and materials will be checked in on a daily basis. Books and materials that belong to the Prescott Valley Public Library checked out prior to the temporary closure will not be due until after the grand opening.
Patrons still may place a hold on materials within the Yavapai Library Network except for those within the Prescott Valley library. These on-hold items may be picked up at the Civic Center, third floor reception desk Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, patrons may sign up for new library cards at the third floor reception desk.
The ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 10 for the new 40,000-square-foot library and Yavapai College Educational Complex will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tours will take place every 30 minutes between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
New library amenities include: Onsite Café, Virtual Interactive Room, Friends of the Library Book Store/Gift Shop, drive-up window, study areas, 200-seat performance theatre and Council chambers, Crystal Meeting Room, two fireplaces, 300-space parking lot with numerous A.D.A.-friendly spaces, observation terrace, children's interactive wall, as well as adult and teen patios.
Contemporary award-winning architects designed the library to reflect the character and history of Prescott Valley and for the community to gather in a modern layout.
