Community to remember 9-11 with Friday ceremony

Prescott Valley residents will have several opportunities Friday to remember and honor those who died on Sept. 11, 2001 and those who have served in the war on terror since that day.

A remembrance will take place at the Civic Center, 7501 E. Civic Circle from 9-9:30 a.m. Friday.

The event will feature inspirational and patriotic songs from the St. Luke Ebony Christian Church Choir.

Those attending should bring a chair/blanket and water. For more information call the Prescott Valley Community Relations Division at 928-759-3123.

Motorcycle riders will enjoy a memorial ride on Friday beginning at the American Legion Post #40 in Chino Valley and traveling through Jerome, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, Cornville, Camp Verde, Dewey/Humboldt, and Prescott Valley, before winding up at the Courthouse Square in Prescott.

The open ride allows riders to join in at any point along the way. Ceremonial activities begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Legion Post, Road 3 South and Highway 89 in Chino. The program will include a bagpipe rendition of "The Piper" by Thomas Lemoray. The post will give any donations received to the First responders of Yavapai County.
