Prescott Valley Police said a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after colliding with a car at 2:58 p.m. Thursday on Highway 69 near Lake Valley Road.
Thomas Thibodeau, 24, of Prescott Valley, struck a motorcycle with his tan Nissan when he changed lanes while he was headed east on Highway 69, said Art Askew, of the Prescott Valley Police Department's criminal investigations section. Thibodeau told police the motorcycle was in his blind spot, Askew said.
The impact knocked Philip Siebenthaler, 69, of Prescott Valley, off the gray 2000 Indian motorcycle he was driving to the ground and he suffered serious injuries. Siebenthaler was not wearing a helmet, according to police reports.
An ambulance took Siebenthaler to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East, where a helicopter immediately airlifted him to Flagstaff Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Siebenthaler is in critical condition at Flagstaff Medical Center, said Starla Addair-Collins, spokeswoman and public relations specialist with Flagstaff Medical Center.
The Prescott Valley Police Traffic Division closed the highway for three hours while they investigated the collision.
