Cross Country's Martinez receives multiple race invites

The Chino Valley cross country team competed in the Queen Creek Twilight Desert Festival on Friday evening. Juan Martinez was invited to participate in the Sweepstakes race and finished in 28th place with a time of 15:42 in the 5k race. In the Varsity race, Dustin St Clair finished in 170th place with a time of 19:48. Jack Hermance finished in 177th place with a time of 20:11, Zach Ballard finished in 179th place with a time of 20:18, and Channing Nez finished in 183rd place with a time of 20:34.

The Chino Valley girls were led by Jessica Fowkes who placed 80th with a time of 22:58. Closely behind here was teammate Kristen Ayers who ran 23:13 to finish in 90th place. Other finishers for the Cougars were Hannah Swope (145th place--27:37), Teaira Tollenaar (152nd place--31:25), and Savannah Steinmetz (154th place--35:14). The Lady Cougars finished in 23rd place as a team with 573 points.

The Cougars next compete in the Northwest Christian multi on Thursday, Oct. 8. Juan Martinez has been invited to the prestigious Doug Conley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 10 to run against the best runners in the entire state of Arizona.
