At 10:30 a.m. this Saturday, the Highlands Center for Natural History, 1375 S. Walker Road in Prescott, is putting on the "Beyond Words" puppet show. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children at the door.
"Beyond Words," an original puppet production created by Dori Mion, is intended to cross the boundaries of language.
Set to the musical score and sound effects of Jonathan Best, the story of Forlorna's awakening unfolds - and her dreams represent what is real.
The following Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 21, the Highlands Center will play host to a free community presentation called "Highlands Holiday Open House."
Organizers invite the public to the center's Kieckhefer Classroom for some holiday fun and cheer at the annual event.
Several local artisans will sell their wares to folks who want to buy them as holiday gifts or for themselves.
In addition, there will be a special "Kraft Table" section where children can make presents for loved ones. Volunteers will be on hand to help.
The center's Benson Family Nature Store also will be open and offer a new assortment of nature-related gift items for children and adults. Participants can buy holiday goodies while they shop.
Organizers encourage attendees to bring canned goods; new, unwrapped toys; and gently-used toys or clothing for families in need. These items will be distributed to families in Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt.
