Picnic at the Park, for the whole family, is at noon Saturday, June 6, at Lindquist Family Park. Bring your lunch and blankets and enjoy games and music. Recreational swimming will also be available.
Enroll your child in the YMCA Day Camp. There are day camp opportunities for school-aged children through the eighth grade. The camps are state licensed and DES approved. Your child will enjoy fun-filled days full of activities such as swimming, crafts, games and team building exercises. YMCA Day Camps are designed to keep school-aged children busy, active, challenged and safe throughout the summer.
The Eight on Eight Lifestyle/Weight Management Class is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, beginning May 29. This eight-week class will give you the tools you need to stop the vicious dieting cycle and the knowledge to manage your weight sensibly. All participants will receive a pedometer and a food and exercise journal to record their progress.
Summer Dodgeball returns to the YMCA on Saturday, June 6, with warm-ups at 4 p.m. Bring your own team of 6 to 8 players, or we will find a team for you. Games will be double elimination and tournament-style to determine winners in each age category.
The Porpoise Club is a great youth leadership program for children grades six through nine. The club meets from 8 a.m. to noon every day beginning June 1 in two-week sessions. Activities include swimming pool safety skills, helping with swim lessons and leadership/decision-making games.
Sand Volleyball is every Tuesday and Thursday in the month of June beginning June 2. Three separate divisions are available to accommodate boys and girls of all levels and abilities. Participants will learn the skills necessary for beach/sand volleyball and compete in doubles matches at the Pioneer Park sand volleyball courts.
Boy's Basketball Camp, Fitness Camp, Gymnastics Camp and Coed Tennis Camps are offered throughout the summer. Each camp can accommodate girls and boys of all levels and abilities. Registration is ongoing for all camps.
The Prescott YMCA Arizona Cardinals Youth Flag Football League begins the week of June 15. Girls and boys, ages 6 through 14, can participate in this recreational league. The purpose of this league is to reinforce football skills through active participation with an appreciation for competition and sportsmanship. There are no tryouts.
Learn the latest moves in the Hip Hop Dance class from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays. This set of four lessons includes breaking, gliding, isolations and freestyle moves.
Join the adventure of the Prescott YMCA SCUBA Development Program. Classes cover the basic skills from the PADI open water diver certification through the level of dive master. The YMCA's excellent diving facilities accommodate all skill levels and all equipment needs. A variety of classes are offered weekly.
