Prescott College offers video storytelling class

It is a common thread throughout all ages and in every culture in human history: People love to tell and hear personal and family stories.

Scrapbooking, holiday snapshots, family portraits, personal memories, even blogging and social media such as YouTube and Facebook bear testament to a tradition reaching back far into prehistoric times.

Prescott College is offering a workshop that will offer everyone the opportunity to learn how to tell stories effectively with video.

The workshop is June 5, 6, and 7 and June 12, 13, and 14. The cost is $249.

Anthropologist and professional videographer Dana Oswald, Ph.D., of Prescott College will reveal the secrets of effective storytelling using digital media in a non-credit class.

The topics and skills Oswald will cover in the class include choosing the right stories to tell; creating and narrating a good script; selecting the best images and music to support your story; and combining all of these elements into a video to share with others.

Anyone interested in more information or registering for the class should contact Jill Lewis at the Center for Extended Studies and Lifelong Learning at cesll@prescott.edu.
