Letter: FDR did not lead us out of the Depression
Regarding Paul Baskin's' commentary on the protestors; I suggest he (and others who are concerned) obtain and read "New Deal or Raw Deal" by Burton Folsom.
Among many points described about Franklin Delano Roosevelt's presidency is, during the first six years he was in office; the unemployment rate remained at 22 percent. Folsom's book exposes the myth that FDR led us out of a depression.
Many of the actions being implemented today are repeats of failed government programs (the courts declared some unconstitutional), which were aimed at expanded federal government control and intervention in private lives.
