Police Report: Tucson man faces charges of car theft in PV

Prescott Valley police arrested Tucson resident Ronald C. Bates, 36, on March 29 on charges of two counts of theft of means of transportation, police said in a Tuesday press release.

Officers got a call around 12:30 p.m. yesterday from a man reporting that someone stole his 1998 Jeep Wrangler from the Harkins Theatres parking lot. A short time later a DPS officer spotted the Jeep at a gas station on Highway 69 with Bates and a companion standing nearby.

Prescott Valley police investigating the case discovered several other vehicles believed to be stolen by Bates, the press release said, including a 1996 black Jeep Cherokee someone stole and dumped in the Prescott Valley area.

Officers also found near Sam's Club a Jeep Cherokee stolen from the Tucson area, police said.
