YCSO investigates Coconino County shooting incident

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Section is investigating a March 21 shooting incident involving a Coconino County sheriff's deputy and Buckeye resident Leigh Parr.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office asked YCSO to investigate the incident.

On March 21, Parr, 54, rolled his vehicle during a high-speed pursuit by CCSO deputies. According to a sheriff's report, Parr got out of his car, confronted the deputies and started shooting at them. Deputies returned fire and Parr ran away.

Deputies found and arrested Parr the next day, according to YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn. During Parr's arrest, deputies confiscated a handgun from him.

Parr sustained injuries during the incident and required hospitalization. YCSO detectives are investigating the cause of the injuries, D'Evelyn wrote in a press release.
