Letter: Media ignores option of single-payer health

EDITOR:

In my observations of the media and congressional freeze-out of single-payer national health insurance, it strikes me as odd that polls stating the citizens' desire for this program are so easy to ignore. Once again, money and fear become the driving forces of humanity.

One important point to make in favor of a national system is the issue of public health. In pandemics such as the virus now in circulation, and catastrophes both natural and unnatural, the need for responsiveness is eminent.

Not only could a system such as "Medicare for all" at the national level increase response time and data, but it would be more efficient.

And the uninsured could be your child or neighbor who just got laid off from their job.

Who will we turn to when we need to face the real issues? Insurance companies?

Wake up, America - it is time to put our citizens' health before profit and greed. I believe HR 676 and S703 can create this for us.
