41 CVHS seniors receive $1.3M in scholarships

Forty-one Chino Valley High School seniors received $1,338,876 in scholarships and awards at the school's 2009 Scholarship and Awards Night Ceremony in the CVHS gym May 19.

Duane Noggle, Chino Valley Unified School District superintendent, told the governing board May 11 that for the second straight year CVHS's graduating class received more than $1 million in scholarships and awards.

The students and the scholarship they received are:

• Clinton Ahrendt: Yavapai College General Education Scholarship, $3,000.

• Araceli Alvarez: Yavapai College General Education Scholarship, $3,000.

• Eddie Andert: Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards High Honor Tuition Waiver, $23,000; Chino Valley Elks Lodge #2842 State Winner, $1,000; Arizona State University President's Scholarship, $36,000; University of Arizona Wildcat Excellence Award, $34,000; Denise Pearson Scholarship, $1,200; and FFA Alumni and Friends Merit Scholarship, $500.

• Robert Audis: Northern Arizona University Merit Scholarship, $7,000; Sunup Rotary Scholarship, $1,000; and Denise Pearson Scholarship, $1,200.

• Leah Baker: American Legion Scholarship, $3,000; and Navajo Nation Scholarship, to be determined.

• Zacheriah Berger-Fauth: Yavapai College Board of Governor's Scholarship, $3,400; Yavapai College Math/Science Scholarship, $3,000; 2009 Horatio Alger Scholarship, $5,000; and Northern Arizona University Merit Scholarship, $7,000.

• Rebeccah Catanzariti: Yavapai College Board of Governor's Scholarship, $3,400; Yavapai College Foundation Scholarship, $3,000; AIMS High Honor Tuition Waiver, $23,000; Northern Arizona University Merit Scholarship, $7,000; Prescott Frontier Days - Service Program, $500; Sunup Rotary Scholarship, $1,000; Northern Arizona University Mildred Woodrow Memorial Scholarship, $11,600; and Denise Pearson Scholarship, $1,200.

• Skyler Flood: 2009 Environmental Scholarship, $1,000; and Educational Talent Search through Yavapai College, $1,000.
