Art Guild opens show to all resident Prescott Valley artists
Prescott Valley artists wanting to strut their stuff and possibly earn a little extra cash this fall should pick up an application soon to a juried art show that is part of the World Arts Festival on Sept. 12.
The Prescott Valley Art Guild is opening its WAF art show to all Prescott Valley residents 18 years of age and older. The Festival is a one-day free event held Saturday, Sept. 12, on the Civic Center grounds, and celebrates a variety of cultural arts, entertainment and food from Arizona and around the world.
Although work in all mediums is welcome - including wood, fiber arts, glass, basketry jewelry, etc. - there will be cash awards in eight categories: digital, oil/acrylics; pastel, mixed media, photography, three-dimensional, graphics and watercolor. In addition, there will be a Best of Show award.
The Town is a sponsor for the show and helping with ribbons and prize money.
All artwork will be displayed indoors in the lower level of the Civic Center. Deadline for entry forms is Aug. 19.
All work must be original and completed since Sept. 1, 2007. Maximum size unframed is 20 inches x 30 inches. Three-dimensional artwork must weigh less than 35 pounds.
Entry fees are $10 per art piece. All entries will be juried and must be for sale - the PV Art Guild does not charge commission.
Linda Umphrey, a nationally-known artist with her works in collections across the United States, will judge the show.
Artists will receive notification of acceptance on Aug. 28. Artwork may be dropped off on Friday, Sept. 11, from 3-5 p.m., and picked up after the show from 7-9 p.m.
