Prescott Pops soar with 'Superheroes'
The Prescott Pops Symphony kicks off its summer concert series with "Superheroes Rescue the Symphony!" at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at the Yavapai College Performance Hall, 1100 E. Sheldon St.
Selections will include "Procession of the Nobles" by Rimsky-Korsakov, "Overture to Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss Jr., "Summon the Heroes" by John Williams, as well as film music from "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Superman," "Batman," and "The Rocketeer.
The concert will include a performance by steel drum band Pandemonium, with an original work by Mike VanBlaricom written for steel drums and orchestra.
Pandemonium, which originally began as a family band, encompasses 17 musician friends, and performs an eclectic repertoire of island songs, classical, big band, soft rock and contemporary tunes.
The band will also play in the lobby before the concert and during intermission.
The orchestra invites guests to join them in dressing as their favorite superhero. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.
