Child of the Week: Justin
At Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, we are looking for more than a few good men to be a Big Brother or to be matched with a child as an entire family. You don't have to change your life to make a big difference in a boy's life. Right now in our community, there are hundreds of boys being raised by single moms. Many of these young men are on a waiting list for a Big Brother. Who will show these boys what it means to be men - good men?
Meet Justin. He is 12 years old, intelligent, curious and caring. He lives with his mom and an older sister. His mom has a full-time job and not a lot of time and attention left over at the end of the day for Justin. His father hasn't been in his life for more than three years.
Justin participates in kung fu and is a member of the swim club. He is also part of the chess club. His favorite weekend activity is going to Wal-Mart. Justin is open, honest and has a great sense of humor. He explained that he is really into video games, but mom puts a time limit on them. He thinks school is too hard - but really likes woodshop. He likes to hike - but not for too long! And he thinks it would be fun to go camping, but isn't sure about sleeping on the hard ground.
Justin thinks it would be cool to have a Big Brother to hang out with. He would like a potential "Big" to know that he likes cats, movies and video games ... and doesn't like to work too hard! His mother would like a Big Brother who has patience and will encourage Justin. She thinks it is important that Justin have a male role model in his life.
Remember, you don't have to change your life to change his! Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for men to become Big Brothers to boys just like Justin. Sign up today and find out how just a few hours a couple of times a month can completely change the life of a young man.
