Glenda Lee (Nelson) Canuel

Glenda Lee (Nelson) Canuel went to be with Jesus on June 27, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Nov. 30, 1956, in Denver, Colo.

Glenda was a multi-talented woman who was a musician, songwriter, singer, seamstress and jewelry designer, to name just a few. She grew up singing and playing guitar and piano with the family from the time she was just a little girl. She and her brother Dave and sister Amy were like one person when singing together. She went on to spend her life playing in many bands and providing music for the worship teams of churches she attended. God gave her an amazing gift of music, which she loved to use for Him.

She married the love of her life, Joe Canuel, on Nov. 9, 1991. She was the mother of, in her words, "the two most amazing sons," Waylon and Nick, whom she adored. Again, she was gifted with a family of musicians in her marriage and loved playing and singing with them, both at home and professionally. Most recently, she was the bass player for local band Latigo with her husband, son Nick and Mike Stazenski.

Glenda loved her family, music, her home full of animals and rainy days. She had a full life, a loving family and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have had her in their lives.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe; sons Waylon and Nicholas; stepsons Eric (Elizabeth) and Adam (Kathy) Canuel; grandchildren Emmally, Elliott and Thad; mother Phyllis Carlson; father Richard (Roy) Nelson; brothers John (Pam) and Dave Nelson; sister Amy Nelson; nephew Donovan Nelson; and great-niece Pearl Nelson Chavez, as well as family in Pennsylvania and many, many friends.

Glenda, Go rest high on that mountain... your work on earth is done. Go to heaven a shouting, love for the Father, and the Son.

A memorial service and celebration of Glenda's life will be at 10 a.m. July 11, 2009, at Grace Baptist Church in Chino Valley.

Chino Valley Funeral Home is caring for the family.
