Applications arriving for PV council vacancy

PRESCOTT VALLEY - Several people have expressed interest in filling the vacancy on the Town Council, and three people applied as of the close of business Thursday, according to Town Clerk Diane Russell.

Rick Anderson, Keith Burley and Frank Manus applied Tuesday to fill the vacancy that the death of Councilman Bob Edwards created Dec. 20, Russell reported. She added Kymberli Lopez, Daryl Johnson, James "Bo" Woods and Van Gerdes also picked up application packets as of Thursday.

Town Manager Larry Tarkowski speculated as many as 15 people will apply by the 5 p.m. deadline this coming Thursday. The successful applicant will serve a term that expires in June 2011, and decide whether to seek election to a four-year term.

Applications are available at Russell's office on the second floor of the Civic Center, 7501 E. Civic Center.

The council will review the applicants at the Feb. 5 work/study session and narrow the field to three or four finalists who will advance to a second round of presentations and interviews at the Feb. 12 meeting.

Council members receive $700 per month.

For more information, call the Town Clerk's office at 759-3135.
