Scrapbook Day

The City of Prescott is sponsoring this scrapbooking camp 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Grace Sparkes Activity Center, 824 E. Gurley. Cost is $10 and includes a techniques handout and scrapbook supplies giveaways. Acker Trust Grant

The City of Prescott is now accepting grant applications from eligible non-profit organizations that promote "music and parks, especially for the children of Prescott," for funding for fiscal year 2010 (July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010). Yoga with Becky Lind

The City of Prescott is sponsoring yoga classes by certified instructor Becky Lind. All levels are invited to participate in this activity that is practiced to develop strength and flexibility, and to reduce stress. Classes are scheduled from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays January through March at the Grace Sparkes Community Center, 824 E. Gurley. Prescott Adult Center Classes

Fridays,Summer Hinton and Russ Hausske will teach partner dance lessons incorporating country-western style, couples cha cha and east and west coast swing 7 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Charles Curtis teaches Beginning Art & Drawing 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, ongoing classes at the center include yoga with Becky Lind at 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Linda Truman teaches pilates, beginning at 9 a.m. Mondays, Paul Jack teaches ballroom dance 6:45 p.m. Fitness instructor Joy Tkach will teach a one time class "Strength for Golfers" 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Jan. 13, covering strengthening muscles and using body weight for a more powerful swing and better range of motion, and "Flexibility for Golfers" 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20, focusing on improving flexibility in the spine, shoulders, wrists and hips. Tuesdays, Mark Gardner offers individual tutoring on digital photography, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Ben Bochenek teaches group guitar lessons, 6 to 7 p.m. for beginners, 7:15 to 8:15 for intermediate students. Hiking Beyond 50

The Prescott Valley Public Library and the Central Arizona Senior Association are offering a workshop for seniors, by Ted Johnson who has hiked the southwestern wilderness since 1975 and just turned 50. The group will explore age appropriate destinations, discuss how to prepare, what to take, and what to do when an unexpected problem turns into an overnight ordeal. The first meeting is scheduled Thursday, Jan. 22, 10 to 11 a.m., at the CASA Senior Center, 9360 E. Manzanita Circle. Hikes are scheduled the last Saturday of each month, January through April. Salsa Dancing

Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation is offering salsa dancing classes Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Bradshaw Mountain High School east campus cafeteria for ages 18 and up. Cost is $80 per person. Session II classes are scheduled for Feb. 4, 11, 25 and March 11. Session III: March 4, 11, 25 and April 1. Session IV: April 8, 15, 22 and 29. Junior Olympics

Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation is offering a free Junior Olympics competition for boys and girls ages 8 to 13 with three levels of competition. The week long series will begin April 28, 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Mountain Valley Park and Bradshaw Mountain High School west campus tennis courts. Warm-up begins April 27. Basketball competition starts April 28, soccer on the 29th, Track and field on the 30th, and tennis on May 1. Register at the Parks office, Civic Center fourth floor, 7501 E. Civic Circle. Adult Tap Class

Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation is offering this class at Granville Elementary School instructed by Jessica Bishop. Students will learn traditional tap in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Adult tap is a great opportunity for first-time students or for those who love to tap but may not have taken a tap class in years. Class is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. January through April. Dates are: Session 1: Jan. 5, 12 and 26. Session II: Feb. 2, 9 and 23; Session III: March 2, 9, 23 and 30; and Session IV: April 6, 13, and 27. Class maximum is 20 students. Cost is $40. Beginning Belly Dancing

The Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a belly dancing class. Belly dance offers a recreational way to gently strengthen, stretch and tone all parts of the body through dance. Classes are Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Granville Elementary School cafeteria. Dates are: Session I: Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28; Session II: Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25; Session III: March 4, 11, and 25; Session IV: April 1, 8, 22 and 29. Cost is $40. Game Nights

3-on-3 Basketball League

Chino Valley Recreation will sponsor Thursday night games at the end of February starting 6 p.m. at Heritage Middle School. Cost is $170 per team and includes seven games plus tournament. The league is for ages 15 and older. Call 636-9780 ext. 7004 for more information.

Artic Plunge

Chino Valley Recreation will hold an Artic Plunge Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Aquatic Center, 1615 N. Rd. 1 E. Activities for ages 15 and older begin at noon. Hot chocolate and coffee provided.

Pilates

This fitness class for strengthening and flexibility is great for all ages. Classes are 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Activity Center, 1527 N. Rd. 1 E. Cost is $3 per class. Register by calling 636-0162.

Square Dancing Lessons
