Dippin' Dots relocates, adds grill items to menu

Rob and Teresa Wells are following the dots to a new direction.

After closing Dippin' Dots, Rob and Teresa Wells recently took over Woodies World-Class Chili Dogs, added their own flair and opened Dots-N-Grill in the Entertainment District at 2992 N. Park Ave. in Prescott Valley.

Patrons can choose from a menu that includes Dippin' Dots (bowls of tiny spheres of ice cream frozen using a "cryogenic encapsulation" technique), hotdogs, burgers and more, according to Rob.

Rob said any hotdog, fries and soda combination used to be $6.75, and now the same combination is $5.

"We still have the same products and services. We just lowered the prices and added to it (menu)," he said.

The decision to move from one side of Florentine Road to another was easy to make because it means more foot traffic than their previous location around the corner from Fry's, and they can offer a bigger menu, according to Teresa.

"It's visible. It's definitely a much better chance," she said.

Bruce Hershman with Northern Arizona Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), said moving a business is expensive, potentially disruptive to your business and can eat into the customer base. For business owners considering moving or consolidating their business, Hershman said it's important for owners to ask themselves if the move means less expensive rent, whether it's more convenient for their customers, and if it is a better location.

"You need to be confident that it is in the best interest of your business," he said.

Those are angles that Rob and Teresa seem to have on their side, as they are now less than a stone's throw from the only movie theater in the tri-city area, and drivers can see them from Glassford Hill Road. And they are offering espresso, hot chocolate and Italian ice to keep the restaurant appealing year-round.

The restaurant is open from noon to 8 p.m. Sundays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
