Obituary: John Q. Adams
John Q. Adams, age 84, of Prescott, Ariz., died at Grandview Hospital in Sellersville, Pa. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, following a heart attack.
He was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Los Angeles, Calif. to the late John Q. Adams and Alice Vigare. He attended UCLA, USC and Berkeley Colleges achieving a Masters Degree is Electronic Engineering. John served in the U.S. Army Communication Corps, during WW II, and was stationed in Germany. He was married to Gloria Stombs for 60 years.
Mr. Adams worked for more than 30 years as the Senior Member of the Technical Staff for ITT Gilfillan, a U.S. defense radar design firm. During his tenure, Mr. Adams received the Distinguished Service Award, the highest award given to a civilian by the U.S. Navy.
In 1992, Mr. Adams and his wife Gloria retired to Prescott, Ariz. where he was an active member of the Acker Park Committee. He was an avid golfer, jogger and hiker.
John is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughter Judy Frank of Telford, Pa.; and his sons, Mark of Burbank, Calif. and Donald of Santa Cruz. Calif. Surviving grandchildren are, Joy Alfonsi, Jeffrey Frigerio, J.D. Adams, Julie Adams, Jason Adams, Joey Adams; and great grandchildren, Anthony Alfonsi, Adam Alfonsi, Ashley Alfonsi and Austin Frigerio.
No funeral services are planned at this time per John's wishes.
