A teenager rolled a stolen car Tuesday on Prescott Lakes Parkway and faces multiple charges, Prescott Police say.

While investigating a roll-over accident at Prescott Lakes Parkway and Sundog Ranch Road at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, police learned about the reported theft of the 2001 Isuzu Rodeo, driven by a 16-year-old male runaway from Parks. Parks is 20 miles west of Flagstaff.

The boy, police said, had smoked marijuana prior to the accident.

Investigators say the boy was driving north down the hill on Prescott Lakes Parkway when he lost control of the vehicle, hit a curb and rolled the car. Police identified a passenger, Meredith Wright, 18, of Prescott Valley, as the driver's girlfriend. Medical personnel took both to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and release.

An acquaintance of the driver, also a 16-year-old runaway Parks resident, was following the vehicle and saw the accident. Officers learned from a Coconino County deputy that both juveniles were involved in the theft of the wrecked vehicle after they learned that a neighbor kept the keys to the car in the ashtray.

Officers booked the driver of the wrecked vehicle into jail on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated DUI, criminal damage, and endangerment. They also booked his acquaintance on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a prescription only drug.

No charges were filed on Wright at this time.
