Musician Bud Tyndale has a new gig.

When he's not playing at a local restaurant or bar, Tyndale is running Spotlight Smile Cosmetic Teeth Whitening in Cecelia's Day Spa at 810 Valley St. in Prescott.

Tyndale began offering his teeth whitening business in April, where he helps people improve their smile.

"Whiter teeth can knock years off your appearance," he said.

The main ingredient is a carbamide peroxide gel, according to Tyndale.

Treatments can run half an hour to an hour and Tyndale said the frequency depends on the person's teeth.

After the first treatment, teeth are typically two to four shades whiter, according to Tyndale.

Variables include how much tea, coffee and cigarettes people use, according to Tyndale.

"This will not make your teeth any whiter than they ever were, but it will make them as white as they ever were" he said.

Tyndale said his whitening system removes stains and doesn't bleach teeth.

The procedure costs $99 for 15 minutes.

Tyndale first heard about cosmetic teeth whitening at an aesthetician and cosmetologist annual convention in Las Vegas in 2008.

He was only at the convention to carry his wife's luggage as she learned about cutting-edge skin care products and techniques. But opportunity smiled on him.

Now, he's using the gel and a cool blue LED light that he said is the only Food and Drug Administration-approved light on the market to help people improve their image.

"I really like helping people feel better about themselves at a fraction of the price of a dentist's office," he said.

Tyndale offers his service by appointment. For information, call 499-5425.
