Cops investigate possible 'date rape'

PRESCOTT - Prescott police are investigating a possible date rape of an exotic dancer who woke up Monday in a hotel room stripped of her clothes - and money, Lt. Andy Reinhardt said.

Reinhardt said an unidentified man called the 21-year-old woman, who works for a Phoenix strippers service, Saturday and agreed to meet her Monday morning in the parking lot of a hotel at Lee Boulevard near Highway 69. They negotiated $200 for her to perform a lap dance.

The man checked into a room, and said he needed to go to a bank because he did not have $200 in cash, Reinhardt said.

The woman later followed him to his room, and he bought her breakfast at Burger King that included a soft drink. The woman declined his request to take off his clothes, and she performed her dance.

The woman felt as though she would pass out, and woke up at 2:30 p.m., Reinhardt said. The man was gone, as well as the $200 he paid her and $250 in her purse.

Believing he spiked her drink with the date-rape drug, the woman called Prescott police Tuesday after she returned to Phoenix.

"Police are obtaining surveillance video from the parking lot," Reinhardt said.
