Troops: Thanks for all the goodies and your support!
Jenny McCarthy, Chief Warrant Officer 2, station in Bagram Air Base Afghanistan, Middle East, wrote this letter the Chino Valley American Legion and students and staff of Del Rio Elementary School (the Review published it in its letters section on April 8):
"Thank you for the wonderful box of clothes, backpacks and toys. I cannot express to you how thankful and happy the kids are to receive the wonderful gifts that we, as Americans, sometimes take for granted. This visit we were able to put beanie babies, candy, little plastic rulers and other small hygiene items into little duck Easter bags.
"We just had enough for all of the kids and one leftover. We usually try to play with them and hang out with them for a little while after we give out the items and this time we were lucky enough to have Frisbees® to throw around. It's a small compound under cover where the women and children sit and wait for medical aid.
It's a blessing for us to be able to go visit the kids and an even greater blessing to have wonderful gifts to share with them that we would not have if it weren't for all of our great supporters back at home. Thank you for giving us this opportunity. Thank you for all of your support!
P.S. The picture of the kids with the flags was amazing. I will be putting it up in my office for everyone to see daily!"
