John William Baker

John William Baker, age 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and treasured friend, made his transition peacefully on April 1, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz., while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Feb. 25, 1933, in Glendale, Ohio.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Baker; sons David Baker and wife Jeanine of Florida, and Steve Baker and wife Tracie of Arizona; and daughter Kim Gaskill and husband John of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren Zachary Baker, Allie Baker, Brad Baker, Brett Baker, Leah Marcum and Candice Barry; and great-grandchildren Kyla, Emily and Eilas.

John was a U.S. Air force Korean War Veteran where he served four years as a Radar Technician. John continued to work as a senior equipment engineer and retired from Rogers Corporation in 1990.

John had a passion for restoring and racing vintage Alfa Romeo cars as well as being a committed member of the Mountain High Chordsmen choir. John and Carolyn operated a successful art business marketing Carolyn's watercolor paintings internationally over the past 32 years. John's strong smiling face will be missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m. April 5, 2009, at Church of Spiritual Living, 3755 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in memory of John W. Baker to Hospice Family Care, 100 Sheldon, Suite 100, Prescott, AZ 85303.
