Because only three incumbent candidates for school board members filed nomination paperwork to remain in their three respective seats on the board, they will not have to run in an election.

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter appointed this past week Chino Valley Unified School District board members Peter Atonna, Bob Kaecker and Jo Kelleher to their seats.

Pursuant to ARS.15-424.D the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors was able to cancel the election.

All three seats are for four-year terms. Each of these candidates met the criteria of the statute. Carter's office stated that "this collective action, of the Board of Supervisors, the County School Superintendent, and the various School Districts, will save the taxpayers of the School Districts thousands of dollars."
