Fair's Fine Arts dept. to pay cash for winning entries

The Fine Arts Department of the Yavapai County Fair will pay winning competitors money this year.

The fair runs from Sept. 18 to Sept. 21.

"We will give cash prizes just like last year and what is stated in the Fair Premium Book," Fine Arts superintendent Dorothy Schmidt said. "The only difference is for the Superintendent's Award. The winner will receive a white rosette ribbon and an award. Also, the winner of the People's Choice Award will receive a wood plaque and award."

The best of show winners will receive a ribbon and $20. The other winners will receive: $15 and a blue ribbon for first place; $10 and a red ribbon for second place; $5 and a white ribbon for third place; and a lavender ribbon for honorable mention.

Schmidt said she is still looking for a second judge to join Prescott artist Don Rantz.

The fairgrounds office must receive entry forms for Fine Arts entries by Friday, Sept. 12. The entry fee is $4 per piece.

Schmidt said people must deliver their paid entries to the third floor of the Fairgrounds Exhibit Building Sunday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Monday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
