Mr. Tewksbury

Charlie Tewksbury passed away on Oct. 24, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz., the home he has loved for the past 43 years.

Charles Howell Tewksbury was born April 6, 1931, in Binghamton, N.Y., to Floyd and Emily Tewksbury.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann; son John Tewksbury; daughter and son-in-law Sue and Mike Byrne; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Rick English; four grandchildren: Audrey Byrne, Connor Byrne, Jennifer English and Mathew English; and his brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Barbara Tewksbury.

Charlie had his own CPA practice here for many years. He was an active, hard-working member of the Prescott Rotary Club. He was interested in the Yavapai Symphony Association from its beginning and served as its treasurer for many years. He was a longtime member of the and past elder and deacon of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Enjoying his membership in the Westerners, he also loved getting together with friends for dinner and cards.

One of his great loves was hiking with friends and alone, and he was proud to have hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim many times. While in Havasu Canyon, he once found a particularly interesting 20-pound rock and carried it out.

His loving generosity, kindness, goodness and humor will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at the Unity Church on South Arizona Street on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m.

If desired, donations may be made to the Yavapai Exceptional Industries or the Rotary Foundation.

Friends may go to hamptonfuneralhome.com and sign the guest book and leave a message for the family.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
